RABBI-CANDIDATES TO VISIT OR CHADASH, CONDUCT SERVICES

MARCH 5-7 AND MARCH 12-14

Rabbi Damsky has announced that she will be leaving in July; consequently, the Congregation has initiated its search for a new rabbi. The Rabbi Search committee has worked very hard, often meeting twice a week, and has reviewed over 30 applications!   The committee is very excited about the two candidates who will be joining us for Shabbat services and other programs.

Rabbi Michael Goldstein and his wife, Annette, will be with us March 5-7.  Rabbi Goldstein currently serves as the spiritual leader of a 400-member congregation in Ocean, New Jersey, and he has been leading congregations since 1992.  Rabbi Goldstein and his wife have 3 children.

During the second weekend of March, we will be welcoming Rabbi Micah Caplan and his wife, Michelle.  Rabbi Caplan grew up here in Phoenix, and he and his wife met at ASU Hillel.  He currently leads a congregation of over 500 families in Pinecrest, Florida, and has been a pulpit rabbi since 2002.  Rabbi Caplan and his wife also have 3 children.

Weekend highlights include:

·         Friday night Shabbat Services at 7:30pm

·         Shabbat morning services at 9:30am followed by Kiddush

·         Saturday Seudah (light dinner) and Havdalah with our Young Families at 5:30pm

·         Havdalah and dessert at 7:30pm for the entire congregation at a congregant’s

home   (see email for address and RSVP details).

·         Sunday morning our Rabbi Candidate will visit the Religious School.

SHABBAT SERVICES
We offer a variety of Shabbat Services during each month.
Please check our services schedule below for times and dates,  then join us for inspirational Shabbat celebrations.

Traditional Services:
Our traditional Friday Evening Shabbat Service begins at 7:30 PM and is followed by an Oneg Shabbat. On Saturday morning, we begin at 9:30 AM; Kiddush follows services. We will be happy to help you mark a special occasion with an aliyah or with an opportunity to participate in the service in some other way.  Many portions of these services are lay led, and we encourage participation by those attending the service.

Young Family Services:  Join us on the third Friday night of every month at 5:45 pm for a rockin', kid-friendly, family-designed service.  Shabbat songs, prayers and a story are regular features, as is a fun pizza dinner afterward with plenty of schmoozing.

Shabbat Services: We have services for all ages: Our Friday night Shabbat Service is a musical, spiritually uplifting service led by Cantor Ruth. Saturday morning services are traditional and led by Rabbi Robin. And new for the coming year: Junior Congregation and a Learner’s Minyan. Truly something for everyone.

Shabbat Services and Shared Dinner:  Once per month we gather at a congregant's home or at the synagogue for inspiring Shabbat services and dinner.  Add a bissel of singing and a bissel of teaching in a warm environment and you have all of the ingredients for a rich Shabbat experience with friends.  Services begin at 6:30 pm.  Reservations usually requested.

SHABBAT SERVICES:

For the schedule of our services, please see the updated calendar on our Home Page.

Looking to get involved? We always need volunteers to host a Young Family Shabbat.  Each month, we need one volunteer from the Young Family group to work with the assigned Board Member to ensure that the Young Family Shabbat is coordinated.  It is a wonderful mitzvah to share in this ritual experience.  Volunteers needed for March through June.  If you would like to volunteer, please orchadashaz@gmail.com or call (602-684-9848) Sara Hawkins._________________________________________________
